PrimeTime Players hosted their 2021 home opener against longtime rival the Carolina Crusaders at Banks Street Gym in Fort Mill Saturday. The game was played without any fans in attendance, but you couldn't tell either team as they played as if they were playing in front of a capacity crowd.
The Carolina Crusaders and PrimeTime traded baskets for the most part of the 1st quarter before newcomers Van Turner Jr and Lysander Bracey helped close the quarter out on a nice run combining for 18 points in the quarter as PrimeTime led 38-31 at the end of the 1st.
The second quarter was all Trevor Booker for PrimeTime as he scored 14 of PrimeTime Players 26 points in the quarter but Crusaders guard Clenzo Ross and Vernon Jackson combined to scored 26 in the quarter as they took a 69-64 lead going into the half after outsourcing PrimeTime 38-26 in the quarter.
The second half started with the Crusaders pushing the lead up to as many as 10 behind the hot shooting of Cameron Lee and Vernon Jackson who combined for 24 of the Crusaders 28 points in the 3rd quarter. This was matched by Odell Turner who had a huge quarter scoring 13pts in the 3rds and Van Turner hit three late threes in the quarter to give the host a 97-87 lead going into the 4th.
The final quarter saw Trevor Booker score 17 of his team high 36 and he also grabbed 9 rebounds in the quarter and Chris Moore finished with 10 points in the quarter to hold off the Crusaders 143-135.
