PrimeTime Players win Battle of Division Leaders 141-127

May 7th - The PrimeTime Players hosted the Carolina Thunder in a matchup of division leaders in the Southern Conference on Saturday at Legion Collegiate Academy. The Carolina Thunder came into the game at 7-2 including 4 straight wins and leaders in the Southeast Division heading into the matchup. The PrimeTime Players came into the game at 8-1 and were coming off a loss against the Charlotte Tribe last weekend but still held onto the top spot in the Southwest Division coming into the game.
The game started with the Thunder guard Patrell Rodgers scoring 8 of his team's first 10 points and he was matched by PrimeTime Players forward Melvin Rodgers who also scored 8 of the first 10 points for PrimeTime. Once the teams settles in Odell Turner and Van Turner helped push the host lead up to double digits combining for 23 points in the quarter, toward the end of the quarter Thunder guards Titus Gary III and Demetrius Know knocked down 4 straight three pointers to close the quarter as PrimeTime held onto a 38-27 lead after one. The second quarter started the same way it ended for the Thunder as Titus Gary III knocked down three threes in the quarter for 11 points and Matthew Todd and DJ Mason combined for 20 more as the Thunder came all the way back to tie the score, Sean Barnette scored 12 points for PrimeTime in the quarter as they tried to hold off the Thunder and went into the half tied at 69. The third quarter teams traded baskets for most of the quarter with PrimeTime Player Chris Moore scoring 18 in the quarter and Deon Berrien for the Thunder adding 13 as neither team were able to take a lead by more than 4 points as PrimeTime went into the final quarter with a 101-98 lead. Carolina Thunder took a quick lead to start the 4th and at the 10:45 mark were up 106-105 before three straight turnovers led to a 9-0 run that put PrimeTime up 114-105 after a Chris Moore three pointer. After a timeout by the Thunder teams traded baskets for the remainder of the quarter as PrimeTime was able to hold off the Thunder down the stretch despite 17 more points in the quarter by Patrell Rodger for a 141-127 win. The Carolina Thunder will play two games this coming weekend traveling to Garden City on Sunday then a matchup with Columbia on Sunday. PrimeTime Players will be back at home again and will be taking on the Kannapolis Lycans at 5:00pm.
