The PrimeTime Players exploded out of the gates Saturday night and then played even for three quarters, rolling past the Carolina Crusaders 155-133 in regular season action.
PrimeTime wasted no time setting the tone, pouring in 45 first-quarter points to take a commanding 45-27 lead after one. Chris Moore caught fire early, scoring 14 of his game-high 35 points in the opening period. Kendall Wooldridge and Cornellius Reynolds each added 9 in the quarter as PrimeTime shot an efficient 51.8% from the field for the game.
The Crusaders responded in the second quarter, outscoring PrimeTime 32-26 to trim the deficit. Leroy Williams II and Damier Pitts combined for 18 points in the quarter to keep Carolina within striking distance. However, Jalin Alexander helped steady PrimeTime with 10 second-quarter points, including five straight late buckets that pushed the lead back to 71-59 at halftime.
Carolina made its strongest push in the third. Pitts, who finished with a team-high 22 points and 11 assists, poured in 14 during the quarter as the Crusaders cut the lead to just four. But PrimeTime answered with a decisive run. Reynolds, Moore, and Alexander each scored 12 in the third period, igniting a surge that ballooned the lead to as many as 25. PrimeTime carried a 116-97 advantage into the fourth. From there, PrimeTime maintained control down the stretch to secure the 22-point victory.
Moore led all scorers with 35 points on 13-of-20 shooting, knocking down four three-pointers and going a perfect 5-for-5 from the line. Reynolds added 24 points and 16 rebounds, while Wooldridge posted 28 points on 62.5% shooting. Alexander contributed 23 points, and James Richardson chipped in 23 as well, giving PrimeTime five players with 23 or more points in a balanced offensive effort. As a team, PrimeTime dominated inside and on the glass, finishing with 61 total rebounds and 30 assists while shooting 53.1% from two-point range and 77.1% from the free-throw line.
For the Crusaders, Pitts’ 22-point, 11-assist performance led the way. Williams added 17 points, while D’Monte Evans and Brian Jones combined for 41 points in the loss.
With the win, PrimeTime Players continue to show their offensive firepower, using balanced scoring and timely runs to keep the Crusaders at bay in a high-scoring showdown.
